Using UA tools for English Language Learners and Special Education Students

March 7th

At the American Museum of Natural History

- Pre-registration is required so that we can have an appropriate amount of food and supplies available.

This continuing teacher PD will focus on best teaching practices used for English Language Learner and Special Education students, as they pertain to the Middle School Exit Project and Urban Advantage.


In this session we will:

- Share techniques for scaffolding UA tools: Investigation Design Diagram (IDD) & Developing a Scientific Experiment Tool (DSET)

- Generate testable scientific questions

- Explore methods that build student understanding of variables

- Use Museum exhibits to build content knowledge

- Share tools to help construct reasoned conclusions which include Claims, Evidence, and Reasoning (DSET)
